The Story of Haatiban Resort
The story of Haatiban is as old as the valley itself. It is believed that it was from this hill that Lord Manjushree saw the glowing Lotus flower floating on the lake. To uncover the mystery of the Lotus, he struck his sword of wisdom and cut a gorge near the Chobhar hill. The lake drained out and the Kathmandu valley was formed.
The hill itself gets its name “Haatiban” from its shape. When looked at from afar, the shape of the hill resembles a resting elephant. “Haati” in Nepali means an elephant, and “ban” means forest.
